Wow. What a fun Prospectors Plus event the members gold panning competition turned out to be. In total, more than 30 club members bellied up to the panning tub, threw $5 into the kitty and took a crack at being crowned the 2011 Prospectors Plus’ Speed Pan Champion.
We were thankful that with so many competition participants, Laren, our loyal prospecting buddy and active Resource Coalition representative stepped up to the stopwatch and keep things running smoothly. Each participant was given a full pan of quarter-inch material with three BBs mixed in it. The fastest time to get through the material and keep their BBs in the pan was the winner – and what a fight it turned out to be. Across the field, times varied from a high of two minutes and twenty-five seconds, down to the winning twenty-five second time brought.
Dave Kjorsvik was the big winner, taking home the entire $160 kitty and the title of 2011 Prospectors Plus Speed Pan Champion. Congratulations to Dave and all the participants!
